JOY FREY. Following an extensive and varied career in education Joy has been print making at South Hill Park for 5 years. She has previously worked with paint, screen printing and textiles but now chooses to work with lino and monoprint, exploring the opportunities each process offers for using bright colour, strong shapes, line and space. She is particularly interested in developing etched images in lino which gives fluid, painterly shapes and lines. Her imagery references landscape, coastal form and historical fragment recorded in situ. Synthesising these elements she can extract the essential lines making unique pieces or very limited editions. Her work has been exhibited regularly both at South Hill Park and at a variety of other venues in Berkshire and elsewhere.

Joy also produces individually handmade books with unique handprinted covers and leather spines. The internal paper varies between watercolour paper, drawing paper and note paper.
